Telecommunications

You may purchase a prepaid mobile SIM card at the airport or from telecommunications shops in Malaysia. You are required to present your passport for the vendor to copy and register your new prepaid sim card under your name.

WEATHER

Sarawak has an equatorial climate. The temperature is relatively uniform throughout the year – within the range of 23°C early in the morning to 32°C during the day. Humidity is consistently high in the lowlands ranging from 80 percent to 90 percent.

CURRENCY

Malaysian Ringgit (RM) – Travelers cheques and foreign currencies can be changed for Malaysian Ringgit at banks and hotels. Money changer kiosks are available at major shopping complexes and airport. Most major hotels charge a nominal fee for currency conversion. ATM machines are plentiful and located just about everywhere in Kuching.

ELECTRICITY

Voltage is 220 – 240 Volt AC at 50 cycles per second, adaptable to standard 3-pin square plugs and socket.
