Adjunct Prof Dr Kenneth Bafundo

Dr. Ken Bafundo received his Ph.D. in veterinary parasitology from the University of Illinois, where he investigated the effects of Eimeria infections on the trace mineral status of the growing broiler. In subsequent years, he wasemployed by Elanco, Pfizer, and Phibro Animal Health as the lead scientist for several anticoccidials now used in global poultry production. Among these are nicarbazin (for the EU), narasin, semduramicin, and combinations of nicarbazin with narasin and several other ionophorous anticoccidials. He has led research projects dealing with the nutritional effects of anticoccidials and antimicrobials in broiler production and, more recently, has worked with the effects of phytogenic feed additives on intestinal health. Dr. Bafundo is currently an industry consultant, advising clients on feed additives and their effective use in broiler diets. 

​Dr. Bafundo has published more than 60 articles on coccidiosis,anticoccidials, antimicrobials and phytogenic additives and their effects on avian health and nutrition. He is Adjunct Professor at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center at the University of Georgia (USA) and has served as SectionEditor for Poultry Science. He is editor of a special issue in Animals devoted to current advances in coccidiosis research.
