Prof Dr med vet Silke Rautenschlein

Silke Rautenschlein studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany. After she finished her doctoral degree, she spent six years at Department of Veterinary Pathobiology of the University of Minnesota, USA, to conduct her PhD-studies and a postdoctoral fellowship in the area of infectious diseases and immunology of poultry. She returned to Germany in 2001 to join the Clinic of Poultry at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Hannover. In 2002, 2003, and 2010 she received her recognition as a certified specialist in microbiology and poultry, as well as a diplomat of the European College of Poultry Veterinary Science, respectively. Since 2007, she has a full professorship at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, and since 2011 she is the director of the Clinic for Poultry. Silke Rautenschlein’s research continues to focus on infection immunology with a specific emphasis on viral infections and vaccinology in poultry. But she also touches on current topics of poultry welfare and behavior considering health and immune related parameters.
